TheAccessible.Org

TheAccessible.Org is a purpose-built PDF-to-HTML conversion platform powered by sophisticated document processing pipelines — engineered to produce WCAG 2.1 AA-compliant output at speed and scale.

Complex structural analysis, semantic transformation, MathML conversion, and accessible table reconstruction all happen under the hood. Where human judgment matters most — like generating meaningful alt text for images — targeted AI assistance is applied. Every output is validated against WCAG 2.1 AA, common issues are auto-fixed, and a downloadable compliance report is included. PDFs up to 50 MB, processed in under 20 seconds per page.

About Laura

Making Accessibility a Strategic Advantage

Laura Hopkins served as the Electronic and Information Resources (EIR) Accessibility Coordinator at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she leads digital accessibility initiatives since late 2018.

Her work spans accessibility governance for enterprise systems, digital content, and technology procurement — partnering with vendors to address accessibility requirements and integrating inclusive practices into agency-wide workflows alongside Information Security and Enterprise Architecture teams. Twice she hosted EIR Accessibility Workshops attracting attendees from across Texas and Louisiana.

Laura holds a Master of Science in Information and Technology Management (MS ITM) and is a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) through IAAP. She is also a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from the Project Management Institute and holds State of Texas procurement certifications (CTCD and CTCM). She has presented at events hosted by the Texas DIR, EDUCAUSE [poster session], TxDLA, NAEP–TOAL, TV-AiD Ignite, and the TTLE conference.

Speaking Topics

Keynotes That Ignite Change

Laura brings practitioner-level depth to every presentation — drawing on real governance work, compliance programs, and enterprise implementations to give audiences strategies they can act on immediately. She earned the status of Silver Able Toastmaster in the '90s and has decades of experience speaking before audiences large and small.

Accessibility Governance That Sticks

How to establish accessibility governance that doesn't hinge on one person knowing everything. When the work lives in policies, workflows, and shared processes — not in a single employee's head — it survives personnel changes and scales across the institution.

Getting Leadership to Care About Accessibility

Practical approaches to leadership engagement that move accessibility from an IT concern to an institutional priority — without relying on jargon or scare tactics.

Procurement as an Accessibility Lever

How to use the procurement process to drive vendor accountability and embed accessibility requirements before a contract is ever signed.

Building Institutional Accessibility Readiness

Many institutions rely on a single accessibility champion — and when that person leaves, the program leaves with them. This session shows how to move from a single point of failure to a model where accessibility is everyone's responsibility: embedded in onboarding, procurement, content creation, and leadership decisions.

Consulting Services

Expert Guidance, Measurable Results

Accessibility programs that depend on one person — one who understands it, champions it, holds it all together — are one resignation away from collapse. Laura works with organizations to build programs where everyone has a role, the processes do the heavy lifting, and no single departure can undo the work.

Digital Accessibility Consultant

Sometimes you don't need a full engagement — you need a straight answer. Book a focused session with Laura to work through whatever is blocking your program right now: a VPAT review process, an exception form, a vendor conversation, a legal requirement you can't parse, or a program structure question you haven't been able to answer. No retainer, no onboarding. Just direct, practitioner-level guidance from someone who has built and run a real EIR Accessibility program.

  • Flexible 60 or 90-minute sessions
  • VPAT review and exception form guidance
  • Compliance and legal requirement questions
  • Program structure and governance advice

Training & Workshops

When accessibility knowledge lives in one person, it leaves when they do. These hands-on workshops spread that knowledge across roles — designers, developers, content creators, procurement staff, and leadership — so accessibility becomes a shared habit woven into everyday work. Train-the-trainer options are available for organizations that want to build lasting internal capacity.

  • Role-specific curriculum
  • Assistive tech demonstrations
  • Choose custom training topics
  • Remote or in person

Strategic Accessibility Planning

A multi-year accessibility roadmap built around your institution's actual structure — so the program outlasts any individual, survives leadership transitions, and grows stronger over time. The goal is an organization that owns its accessibility, not one that outsources it.

  • Maturity assessment
  • Custom roadmap development
  • KPI framework
  • Quarterly progress reviews
